Crush on You.......

....the theme for this month's GPP Crusade.

My confession of an obsession is with the song Hey There Deliah by Plain White T's

After the last GPP crusade (Make Some Noise) I just couldn't get this song out of my head - thanks Gillian. I started to become obsessed and listened to the song repeatedly on YouTube.
I looked up the band on iTunes but that wasn't satisfying as you only get short snippets of their songs.
I listened to them more on YouTube. I emailed Gillian about them. I asked my friend's husband who is involved in the music industry about them. I listened to them more on YouTube. I then looked up other songs of theirs and had a listen on YouTube. I then went to a few Music Stores and enquired about them, if any of their CDs were or will be released over here. After a few stores I found someone helpful who said that their first CD was to be released out on the fifteenth.....YIPEE!!.... and after a small deposit I secured myself a copy!
Yes, I now own Every Second Counts and have played it LOUD in the car and at home, even now as I type this entry! My four year old sings along to Hey There Delilah, and my six year old likes Out Time Now.

Here's the video that got me obsessed...Enjoy...

Special events with Cakes

Img_1377I can't believe it has been as long as it has since I last posted. Where does the time go?! I have actually had a bit of a social life, even though most of it has been through my children! The first special event was attending the wedding of my hubby's cousin. They held their ceremony and reception at The Bather's Pavillion at Balmoral. It was really lovely...and the food was delicious! The photo to the left is the top of the cake, isn't it georgeous.

Another event we attended was my sons' soccer/football presentation. Each player in the club was awarded a trophy and five special and specific trophies were also handed out. My son's team won one of these - a Premiership Award for their outstanding win on their Gala day (the combined scores of all the round robin games for the morning was something like 40 to 1!!). I am a very proud mum. I was also really delighted with how well his team played throughout the season and am glad to have met the other parents who were great people too.

Img_1411b_2The most special and important event recently was my son's 6th birthday. As this is his first year at school we agreed to a birthday party at home. He wanted a chocolate cake with either Star Wars or Ninja Turtles, a jumping castle and a pinata (that you hit not pull the string!). In the end we ended up having 28 children, including my two. The weather was beautiful and warm, and on the whole the children were all great.

After all the orgainising and two hours of a yard full of children I was tired and needed a few days to recover!!
Needless to say I have not really had time for much art. I'd love to say that I will create something soon but with the school holidays only a few days a way I don't think that will be a reality!

Visitors

Img_1309b_7Img_1311b_8Whilst I was in my studio I heard some noises outside and when I looked out my window I saw these two feathered friends.
The photos aren't great as the Kookaburras were a little distance away and were taken through the glass but I couldn't resist.

Sharing some great blogs......

Through Michelle Ward's GPP Street Team I have come across many great blogs, some I now visit regularly, some I have become friends with and others I am yet to go back to for a longer visit.

Yesterday I had the chance to revisit one The Fading Rose, Gillian has some unbeliveable photos on her site. I scrolled through all of her posts from the begining and had a really enjoyable time. If you love photography then go have a look.

Through Gillian's site I went across to another great blog, Bent Objects, where I also browsed through from the start. Terry is amazingly talented and has a GREAT sense of humour. He uses wire and every day objects to come up with some really interesting and amusing pieces. He does have some "naughty" pieces but those are now mainly on his other 'adult only' site. To see some really interesting pieces or for a bit of a laugh you have to go over and have a look.

It is amazing how small blogging makes the world and how you can connect with people you may not have, as Michelle would say - How Cool Is That!

and to those who it is relevant for......

Happy Father's Day
