GPP Crusade No. 6

PICK YOUR POISON - the stuff you collect.
Img_0591b_3This month's crusade over at Michelle's GPP Street team is a challenge purely because I have so many collections it was tough deciding which few to choose.
So here they are....

Pencils from my first trip to the UK in 1996, I bought one when I could from various places of interest such as Bath, Castle Howard, Salisbury Catherderal, Sherwood Forest, a tartan one from Scotland, the leprechaun is from the Blarney Castle Ireland (where I kissed the Blarney stone). On the way home we went to Hawaii for a week with one night stop over in LA, so 'Mickey & Minnie' are from Disneyland and the Fish is from Hawaii.

There are few 'Forever Friends Bear' pencils and the holder is one to. I love these bears and have a collection of various items - stationery, mugs, soft toys, photo frames, even toilet paper! - but most of it is boxed up so there is no photo.

Img_0604_2Img_0601b_2Img_0607_2Img_0605b_6Books - some are old and some are new, there are first editions and some that aren't. One thing in common is that I am quite selective in the ones that really capture my heart.
This is a small sample.

Img_0612Img_0615Golden Paints & Products  - these are just fabulous.
The quality and the colours make them hard to resist buying.
They've only been available in Australia for a couple of years.

Img_0610Img_0609_2Findings- shown to the right are a few of the findings (jewellery, buttoms, game pieces, etc..) that I collect for my art. I am really lucky as I have my mother, sister and aunt also keeping a look out for interesting things as well.

Img_0611b_4Rubber Stamps - shown here are the stack of draws that hold all my mounted & unmounted stamps. As you can see why, I don't really buy many these days.

My latest collection which I'm hoping will grow and deplete as I create is my "junk" which can be seen on my previous post, What A Find!

GPP Crusade 5

KISS AND TELL - Evidence of Every Day
Below are my Journal pages for the 5th crusade over at Michelle Ward's Green Pepper Press Street Team.

Img_0479bThis page was a little rushed as I never seem to have enough time lately!
The background is Golden Anthraquinone Blue, at the moment I seem to be using this colour and Jenkins Green a fair bit.
The words in the background are what surrounds me everyday, thoughts, feelings, actions, etc..
The hearts represent the love that surrounds me, that which I feel for others and from others.
The photos are of My Family - this consumes most of my day!, My Earl Grey cup/s of Tea, my computer (regularly checking emails, Blogs, and working on my own Blog) and what is lovingly called my Golden Tower (around the cubes are my gels/mediums/grounds, the draws hold my Fluid Acrylics and I am starting to 'collect' the Heavy Body colours but these live elsewhere!). The envelope has drippings from my current Vanilla scented candle.

I actually created most of these red pages above before this challenge, just for a bit of fun, and then when I saw Michelle's pages I just had to add my kisses to these pages. I didn't really think it thru and did my kisses on a tissue, a bit meesy to stick these down (especially since it was a soft 3ply tissue!) but I'm just putting it down as learning in the name of FUN!

Rock Star Moment No. 3

Img_0464b_3My beautiful 5yr old had a grand Rock Star Moment on friday. He was presented with a Merit award after only his second full week at school.

HOW COOL IS THAT!!!

Each week one child in the class will receive a Merit Award that they then get presented with at an assembley held every fortnight. I know that eventually every child will receive an award but I can't help but be bursting with pride, and to be one of the first two in his class just makes me that little bit extra proud.

Unfortunately I was not at the assembly, if I'd have known about his award I would have taken time off work, but one of the other mothers who was there said that all the children recieving their awards stood on the stage beautifully and looked very pleased with themselves.

What made this even more special to me was when he was telling me about the children who had recently had birthdays and received cards, he asked if his award was more special than the birthday cards!! Oh, priceless moments to treasure!

Another Rock Star Moment....

Img_0386b.....but this time for my 3year old.

Through my husbands work they held a Kids Christmas party. Each child received a Santa Bag with a few goodies and included in this was a Colouring in Competition. Both my children did  a wonderful job at colouring in their Santas and my husband sent them in.

Yesterday we found out that my 3 year old won!!! She was so excited to see her colouring in mounted on a piece of paper saying 'Winner" and 'No 1'. She was truly shining with happiness.

"How Cool is That"!!!!!!

Her Prize....this little wooden toy where you have to rest the balls in the holes and this fabulous skipping rope. We have already had so much fun and adventures playing 'Mickey Mouse ClubHouse' with the handles!! I just love her imagination.

GPP Street Team Crusade no. 4

I'm participating in my first GPP crusade - Rock Star moment!

My Rock Star moment happened way back in 1984 when I was 15 years old. The big teenage magazine was DOLLY. They had one page towards the back that was for poetry. As I enjoyed writing poetry I thought I would try my luck and send in a few poems that I had written. I had two that I really liked but thought it would be best to send three and so added another poem that I thought was only OK. It was this third poem that they decided to publish! Receiving the letter was exciting but the real thrill came after the magazine came out. Being a teenager at an all-girl school and susceptible to what your peers think, it was really big when the response was how they liked it and thought it was cool to get published! Although I probably didn't admit it at the time it was a real high. "How Cool is That!"!!!

So I guess this post wouldn't be complete without the poem....

Title: What Happens After?

Will the birds still sing?
Will the leaves still fall?
Will you still write?
or will you still call?
Will you still love me?
Will you still care?
Who can I turn to
when you're not there?
Will the sun still shine?
Will the wind still blow?
Will all this happen
when you go?

There have been other big Rock Star moments in my life but I'll leave it there for now.
