This Month's Listening Pleasure

.....200pxmikacartoonmotionis Life in Cartoon Motion by MIKA.
This CD has been getting lots of play time in the car whilst I drive the kids around, we all love it and the songs are quite varied. Any trip with music, singing and joy is a good one.

Our collective favourite song is Happy Ending, with Lollipop coming a close  second. My Son also likes Any Other World, my Daughter likes Billy Brown, and I like My Interpretation.

As both of my kids are learning the piano it is also a great CD to listen to to learn about music...we listen to what instruments are playing, when they come in (such as the bass guitar or violins) and playing Great Big Whole Notes.

We also have a bit of action with playing instruments (just like the horn section when we listen to The Cat Empire) and doing the hand actions tht appear at the end of the video clip for Happy Ending.......

My BJ Photos

OK, so I finally worked out how to get photos off my phone....I know the pics below aren't the greatest but they're great to me, especially since I thought they would not turn out at all. The first one gives an indication of where we were sitting, front of stage, first elevation, first few rows (being off the floor is great for the short, or should I say vertically challenged, person that I am) pretty great seats wouldn't you say...thanks Sean.

This second one captures Jon and his guitar on stage and screen.

This third one is of Jon when he sang on the makeshift stage in the crowd and performed (You Want to) Make A Memory, I'll Be There For you (with Richie) and Bed of Roses.

Raise Your Hands for Bon Jovi

I danced, I jumped, I sung, clapped, raised my hands and was moved by the music. It was such a GREAT concert, and even though my ears are ringing, my voice is husky and my feet are sore I REALLY wish I had tickets for tonight.

For most of the concert everyone was standing and moving, raising their hands and at times the audience sang louder than the music....which is why having children has given me a great skill to be able to tune things out and hone in to what I want to hear, in this case Jon's magnificent voice.

They played for about two and a half hours and in that time only played about four songs from the new album. They played such a great selection of songs covering many their albums. I know there were some songs that I would have loved them to play, and I know there will be people disappointed not to have heard their one particular song but my one was played, and boy did he sing it so powerfully I was moved to almost tears! This is the song that really brought me to them, it made me want to see them in concert in 1993 and from then I have been a fan - not a fanatical but a lover of their music & lyrics, especially the lyrics....and his voice

He's performance of Leonrad Cohen's Hallelujah was another of the MANY highlights (I got this video from youtube - not one I took but someone who went to the Melbourne concert)

I know Richie is a talented guitarist and David certainly knows his way around those keys but for me when I'm not looking at Jon I love to watch Tico bang on those drums, and though these guys are certainly older they are still so very talented, like good wine time only makes them better, and ......hhmmmm.... they are such good eye candy too!! as I always say, Jon can certainly lay me down in a bed of roses and blaze my glory any day!

I know it has been a while, well too long, since I last posted and I will do better soon, but I just had to say....three more sleeps until.....

YES... BON JOVI are finally back in Aus and I've got tickets!!!!!

On Monday night at 7.30pm (more likely 8.30pm) I will be one of many dancing and singing loud!

Converted......

Megan has successfully converted me to be a fan of The Cat Empire.

Just over two weeks ago she took me to see them in concert in the city with a group of friends. They are truly an energetic group of talented musicians. Their following is as diverse as their sound. You would have to be quite a unique person not to have some part of your body moving when you see them live.

I have since created my own CD of their tunes (gotta love iTunes!) and my kids are now also fans particularly of this great tune....

...it's an oldie but a goodie, there are other great clips on YouTube or on their site.

It is really great to play them in the car as it is impossible to get uptight in traffic when listening to their upbeat music.
I'm still a big fan of Plain White Ts, The Feeling and Bon Jovi, their CDs still get a work out too!
Talking of Bon Jovi how excellent that they are coming out next year!!!!

Crush on You.......

....the theme for this month's GPP Crusade.

My confession of an obsession is with the song Hey There Deliah by Plain White T's

After the last GPP crusade (Make Some Noise) I just couldn't get this song out of my head - thanks Gillian. I started to become obsessed and listened to the song repeatedly on YouTube.
I looked up the band on iTunes but that wasn't satisfying as you only get short snippets of their songs.
I listened to them more on YouTube. I emailed Gillian about them. I asked my friend's husband who is involved in the music industry about them. I listened to them more on YouTube. I then looked up other songs of theirs and had a listen on YouTube. I then went to a few Music Stores and enquired about them, if any of their CDs were or will be released over here. After a few stores I found someone helpful who said that their first CD was to be released out on the fifteenth.....YIPEE!!.... and after a small deposit I secured myself a copy!
Yes, I now own Every Second Counts and have played it LOUD in the car and at home, even now as I type this entry! My four year old sings along to Hey There Delilah, and my six year old likes Out Time Now.

Here's the video that got me obsessed...Enjoy...

Shared Songs

I have been having a great time over at Michelle's GPP Street Team this month with everyone Making Some Noise by posting music & songs. Some of the songs don't really appeal to my music taste but it is great to hear such a great variety and things I wouldn't normally listen to.

There have been two songs so far that I had not heard before and am now loving. I just had to put them here so I can come back and listen to them (you know how it is, this thing called my memeory needs a bit of kick to get it going some days).

The one that really grabbed me the most was on Laura's blog. This is such a great video (you have to get past the promo first) the choreography is AMAZING, so fluid, great eye candy and the music gets me moving!
Dhoom Again.....

OOhhh, I'd just love to move like that!

The other song was on Jill's blog, it's quite a moving song...and again great eye candy....hmmmmm perhaps a bit of a theme here...anyway, it's Il Divo - Mama

Whilst I'm sharing songs that I have come to enjoy through others..... when I go to my amazing reflexologist Jocelyn, she plays a fab CD for me, this is one of my fav songs from the CD - really great to relax to. This is the only video on YouTube I could find, not great but it's fab to see the very talented Eric Bana.

Madeleine Peyroux - Dance Me To The End of Love

GPP Crusade No 11 - Make Some Noise

This months crusade over at Michelle Wards GPP Street Team is all about MUSIC!
I have such a wide range of taste in music it is hard to choose (I may have to do more than one post!!)

My first choice will have to be Bon Jovi, I love a lot of their songs and CDs so since they have a new CD out 'Lost Highway' (a great CD - it's Bon Jovi with an influence of Country Music) I'll go with something from there, this is what I could find:

Bon Jovi with Leanne Rimes - Til We Ain't Strangers Anymore (Unplugged)

Whilst I was in the UK I got a chance to watch the Concert for Diana on TV. I saw some really great bands, some I hadn't heard of. This following band was one of them, I liked the songs they played so much I went out and bought the CD. I was not disappoint it is really GREAT!

The Feeling - I Love it When You Call

Ok, so I can't resist putting in one more, I have loved this artist's music since the 80s. He has such an awesome voice and has been through many of my lifes up & downs!

Midge Ure - Breathe

For those that aren't in the know but are curious he was the lead singer of Ultravox, (amoungst others) and he co-wrote the Band Aid hit 'Do They KNow It's Christmas' and helped organise Live Aid.
